Jodi Rose

Jodi Rose is a Berlin-based artist, writer, producer and composer, working internationally to create experimental music, radio programs, audio-visual performances and public art projects. Her major work is Singing Bridges, an urban sonic sculpture composed with bridges as musical instruments on a global scale, based on the sound of vibrations in bridge cables recorded and live from 2002-2011.

Rose trained in Sculpture, Performance and Installation at Sydney College of the Arts, was ABC Radio National: Radiophonic Artist in Residence 2004; Bridge Guard in Sturovo, Slovakia 2005-2006; Artist in Residence, European Sound Delta, Collectif Mu, Danube/Paris; ISEA International Symposium of Electronic Arts AIR in 2008; and is currently Artist in Residence at Nida Art Colony, Lithuania.

Her works have been exhibited, broadcast and published in Australia, Scandinavia, UK, Asia, Europe and America including: Glasgow International Festival of Visual Arts; Sonorama-Besançon Sound Art Festival, France; Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art, Pixelache Helsinki; Filmer la Musique, Point Ephemere and Mains d’Oeuvres, Mal au Pixel Paris; SoundFjord Sonic Arts Gallery, London; L'Ososophere Festival, Strasbourg and ESD at Ars Electronica, Linz; Kinodvor, Ljubljana; Program, Transit Lounge and Transmediale, Berlin; CitySonics Mons, Belgium; Overgaden Sound Art Festival - Institute for Contemporary Art, Copenhagen; Sound States Uncertain Destinations, PICA Perth Institute of Contemporary Art; Sound in Space Audiotheque, Museum of Contemporary Art and The Performance Space; Sydney; Electrofringe, Newcastle; Sydney, SIAL Studios Auditory Cities and Liquid Architecture, Melbourne. Her permanent Sound Installation, Singing Bridges, can be heard on the Eleanor Schonell Bridge, Brisbane Australia. Audio releases include Week 2, Tiramizu; Vibro Files (collaboration with Erik Minkkinen); and Singing Bridges: Vibrations/Variations CD (2005).

Rose continues to explore the philosophical and musical aspects of cable vibrations through global transmissions and installations; hosting on-site sonic interventions, and dreams of linking bridges all over the world in meta-nation Bridgeland and the upcoming Global Bridge Symphony.
